After not being selected as a Regional Host in the 2017 NCAA Baseball Tournament, Virginia was left to sweat out Selection Monday to learn that they’ll travel to Texas for the Fort Worth Regional. The Texas Christian Horned Frogs will serve as regional host and is the number one seed. Joining the Hoos in Fort Worth will be the number three seed, Dallas Baptist and number four seed Central Connecticut State.

Virginia and Dallas Baptist will face off on Friday at 4 P.M. while TCU starts with Central Connecticut State later that night at 9 P.M.

The winner of the Fort Worth Regional will be paired with the winner of the Fayetteville Regional in the following week’s Super Regional. Playing in Fayetteville will be Arkansas, Missouri State, Oklahoma State, and Oral Roberts

It’s just the fifth time in 14 years that Virginia has had to start the NCAA Tournament away from Charlottesville. Overall they’re 7-4 in Regionals away the Hook and have swept the last two, in 2009 and 2015, on their way to the College World Series.

The eight national seeds are as follows:

  1. Oregon State Beavers
  2. North Carolina Tar Heels
  3. Florida Gators
  4. LSU Tigers
  5. Texas Tech Red Raiders
  6. TCU Horned Frogs
  7. Louisville Cardinals
  8. Stanford Cardinal
