After committing to UVa just over a month ago and signing his letter of intent three weeks ago, Cavalier fans are going to have to wait a lot longer to see him wearing orange and blue at JPJ.
On April 30, the three star forward announced his commitment to Virginia over Illinois, with his home-state Kansas Jayhawks showing interest as well.

Cavalier fans immediately were smitten given his raw athletic ability.
However, Coach Bennett broke some news at a recent VAF event in Fredericksburg by telling the crowd the incoming freshman requires knee surgery and will redshirt next year. Taft Coghill, from fredericksburg.com reports Bennett went on to say Badocchi has “great athleticism and quickness.”
Badocchi redshirting likely will not come as a huge shock to many UVa fans as Bennett has a pattern of holding out first years. Most likely even expected Badocchi to redshirt given how little competitive, high level basketball he has played.
Hopefully, given the year off, Badocchi can rest, rehab, learn the pack-line defense, and become even more super-athletic.
