Hot on the heels of Samson Reed’s announcement that he would be joining the Virginia Cavaliers, the Hoos’ defensive line added another big body in Pennsylvania’s Bryce Ramer.
I am 100% committed to The University of Virginia! #HoosRising #ACC ⚔️ Thank you to the Virginia coaching staff for believing in me! pic.twitter.com/3i3qOPjnhW

Ramer is 6’5, 300 pounds, and is listed on the recruiting services as an offensive lineman. But every indication is that he’ll be on the other side of the line in Charlottesville. Linebacker commit Javar Garrett celebrated Ramer’s commitment.
Just added a Savage to the DL , it's going to get scary!! #HoosRising18 https://t.co/HYPV0FxSIj

And one of Ramer’s first tweets after his commitment tweet was directed at new defensive line coach Vic So’oto.

Ramer’s other FBS offer is from Bowling Green, with Cornell and Bucknell as two of his top FCS offers.
It’s hard to scout much from Ramer’s tape, since all of it is from the offensive side of the ball. That alone says he’ll probably have a growth and learning process to undergo before making many contributions on the field. But adding someone with Ramer’s size is a huge plus for the Hoos. If he can play with quality weight above 300, that would give Bronco Mendenhall a lot more flexibility in how to call his defense.
Welcome to the Hoos, Bryce!
