Who said North Carolina and Virginia can’t get along? A video posted to Instagram by Sean Colson - a former player with the Atlanta Hawks - proves the two ACC rivals can work together after all. The short video shows Virginia’s DeAndre Hunter picking up some pointers from Rasheed Wallace on his “patented fadeaway on the block”.
Hunter executes the move well, but what’s more impressive (and beneficial) is the one on one instruction Wallace is giving Hunter.
Wallace played two seasons at North Carolina, helping lead the Tar Heels to the Final Four in 1995 before being drafted by Washington and playing 16 seasons in the NBA (Bullets, Trail Blazers, Hawks, Pistons, Celtics, and Knicks). He retired from the NBA in 2014.
Hunter, Colson, and Wallace all hail from Philadelphia, and the video is tagged at Martin Luther King High School in the greater Philly area.
There are a lot of expectations on the 6’7, 212 pound guard this coming season, especially after the transfers of Marial Shayok and Darius Thompson. Hunter redshirted last season, along with Jay Huff.
This isn’t the first we’ve seen of Hunter this summer, and hopefully it won’t be the last! Season starts in five short months or so...get ready. Maybe we’ll see a fadeaway off the block.
