The UVa men’s basketball team will host a familiar opponent next season as part of the annual Big Ten/ACC challenge: the Wisconsin Badgers. The Hoos last faced Wisconsin in 2013 and 2012 as part of the challenge, when both teams won the road game of the series. UVa fans might remember the 2013 game in Charlottesville in particular, as the 48-38 slugfest made headlines for its absurdly low score. The pairing of the two slower-paced teams will always be an intriguing matchup for the challenge - though certainly one that will bring out the pacist twitter talking heads in full force.

The Hoos have won three straight Big Ten/ACC challenge games and six of their last seven in the series. While fans might see this as a missed opportunity to play a more interesting opponent (Michigan or Purdue would’ve been fun) - keep in mind: it’s better than playing Maryland again.
