Tina Fey eating sheet cake on Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update is just what we needed

New, comments

“Sheetcaking is a grassroots movement, Colin.”

Virginia alumna Tina Fey made a triumphant return to Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update on Thursday, touting a Virginia sweatshirt, putting the neo-Nazis and President Trump on blast, and scarfing down as much cake as a six-minute segment would allow.

“It broke my heart to see these evil forces descend upon Charlottesville," said Fey, who graduated from UVA in 1992.

"I would urge people this Saturday,” Fey said, “instead of participating in the screaming matches and potential violence, find a local business you support — maybe a Jewish run bakery or African-American run bakery — and order a cake with the American flag on it, and just eat it."

"Next time, when you see a bunch of white boys dressed in polo shirts, screaming about taking our country back and you want to scream, 'It's not our country, we stole it!'…Don't yell it at the Klan, Colin, yell it into the cake… Let these morons scream into the empty air."

The message was perfect, the delivery was perfect, and Tina Fey, as always, was perfect. Watch the full clip below.
