Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports is reporting that sources have indicated Virginia Basketball is slated to be one of eight teams playing in the 2018 Battle 4 Atlantis preseason tournament.

Virginia will be joined by Wisconsin, Florida, Butler, Stanford, Oklahoma, Middle Tennessee, and Dayton in the Bahamas-based tournament, but matchups are yet to be determined. This is by far the most prestigious tournament the Hoos have been involved with in several years. Tony Bennett’s squad will participate in the NIT Preseason Tip-off this season, against Vanderbilt and Seton Hall/Rhode Island.

Wisconsin is Virginia’s opponent in this season’s ACC/Big Ten Challenge, and Florida ended the Hoos’ season last year in the second round of the NCAA.

The Hoos have won four straight pre-season tournaments: the Corpus Christi Challenge (2013), the Barclays Center Classic (2014), the Charleston Classic (2015), and the Emerald Coast Classic (2016).

The ACC is expected to release the full 2017-2018 basketball schedule next week.
