Virginia suspends guard Nigel Johnson for three games

Grad student will miss Louisville, Syracuse, and Florida State.

The Virginia Cavaliers announced Wednesday evening that fifth-year transfer guard Nigel Johnson has been suspended for three games for an unspecified violation of team rules.

UVA made the announcement half an hour before the team’s tip-off against Louisville. If the No. 2 Cavaliers (20-1, 9-0 ACC) beat the second-place but unranked Cardinals, they will virtually clinch the outright ACC regular season championship for the fourth time in program history and third in five years under head coach Tony Bennett.
