Football’s hype continues to grow

What a weekend it was for the Virginia Cavaliers football team, as Head Coach Bronco Mendenhall and the team picked up a signature win over the then 16th ranked Miami Hurricanes and landed four-star recruit Ben Smiley. The good news keeps on flowing in today’s ATC:

David Teel of the Daily Press recounted Saturday’s game, highlighting what was UVA’s first win in ten tries against ranked opponents dating back to 2014. The article quotes Coach Mendenhall, who, on the game and the energetic crowd, said, “I sensed maybe a beginning of what this really can be [...] and maybe believing this is for real and that this is going to happen.”

Another week, another bowl projection for the Hoos. Following week seven’s win over the Hurricanes, SB Nation has Virginia currently slotted to play the Auburn Tigers in the Belk Bowl. Just two more wins until bowl eligibility, folks!

ACC Coastal up for grabs at midpoint of college season (CollegeFootballTalk)

In what has become a bit of a normality, the ACC Coastal has become chaotic. This year, however, UVA has played their way into that mess, as they sit squarely in the middle of things, tied with two teams at 2-1, and trailing pace-leading Virginia Tech by just a game. This should be a fun race until the end.
