Virginia’s win over North Carolina was big for a couple of reasons. First of all, the Hoos won its sixth game of the season which makes them eligible for a bowl game for the second straight season. Secondly, it puts Virginia in good position in the ACC Coastal Division at 4-1. Both Virginia Tech and Miami lost this week, giving the Hoos sole possession of first place.

After the game, Coach Mendenhall had a decision to make: who would break the rock? Senior wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus set a new UVA record as the all-time reception leader with 211 (now up to 213), but Coach chose quarterback Bryce Perkins for the honor. Perkins had 217 yards and three touchdowns in the air and another 112 yards and a touchdown on the ground in the game, and he made quick work of the rock:

Virginia has another opportunity to extend their lead in the Coastal as they host Pitt on Friday night in Charlottesville.
