The commitment of Nick Jackson on Thursday night was the first in a while for the Virginia Cavaliers: before the Georgia linebacker committed, there had been only three commitments since UVA’s busy June.
The follow-up didn't take long.
Louisiana running back Mike Hollins announced his commitment to the Hoos on Saturday, becoming the 22nd commitment of UVA’s 2019 class.

Hollins is a consensus three-star on 247, Rivals, and ESPN. He picked Virginia over finalists SMU and Utah, but holds offers from Alabama, Missouri, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, and Kentucky as well.
Hollins’ high school—University Lab, in Baton Rouge—is a perennial top program nationally; they sit ranked in the low 40s this week. No small number of the guys Hollins is playing against in these highlights will end up being Saturday regulars in their own right. So when Hollins is running around, through, and over them—or just blowing past them altogether—he’s showing skills that should translate nicely into the UVA backfield. Add in some of the other elements he flashes, like good hands and tenacious blocking, and you see exactly what the coaching staff likes in their new bell-cow-in-training.
Welcome to Virginia, Mike!
