The Virginia Cavaliers picked up a spot in the AP Poll, moving up to No. 4 this week thanks to a 2-0 record and a loss from then-No. 2 Kentucky. Duke, understandably, took over the top spot after dismantling Kentucky 118-84 to open the season. Kansas, the former No. 1, fell to No. 2, followed by Gonzaga at No. 3. Tennessee rounds out the top five.

There are a poll-high seven ACC teams ranked, with No. 7 North Carolina, No. 14 Florida State, No. 15 Syracuse, No. 16 Virginia Tech, and No. 19 Clemson joining the Blue Devils and Cavaliers in the Top 25.

West Virginia and Washington dropped out of the rankings and were replaced with Marquette and Buffalo.
