Because we all need a little more Salt in our lives.

It was a tough loss for the Virginia Cavaliers football team on Friday night, as they fell to Pittsburgh, 23-13. On the men’s basketball front, we previewed the ACC’s potential top five offenses and profiled Alabama transfer Braxton Key. Here’s what else you may have missed from over the weekend:

In a recent article, Paul Woody of the Richmond Times-Dispatch touched on center Jack Salt’s role on the UVA’s men’s basketball team, punning, “Virginia needs plenty of Salt in their diets.” Noting the senior’s importance, Woody also quoted Head Coach Tony Bennett, who echoed a similar sentiment, “He’s a warrior [...for] His ability to screen, run the floor, get on the glass, use his body.” While not necessarily the most elegant player on the floor, Salt expects to be, for yet another year, a critical part to what the Hoos are trying to do.

It is important that we sometimes take a moment and reflect upon how fortunate we are. Well, Wahoo fans, that is just what we are in having Tony Bennett: fortunate. After taking over a struggling program in 2009, Bennett has transformed UVA men’s basketball into a powerhouse, having led the Cavaliers to five consecutive NCAA tournaments, three ACC regular season titles, and two conference tournament championships. Bennett, whose team starts play tomorrow, looks to continue his success in year ten.

The Chicago Bears placed former Wahoo Taquan Mizzell back on their active roster on Saturday after Kyle Long, the younger brother of Chris Long, was put on the injured reserve.

Congrats to UVA’s Carrera Lucas and Colleen Norair for making the ACC Field Hockey All-Tournament Team!
