Streaking the Lawn’s Week 11 ACC Football Power Rankings

This is getting boring. Clemson is still annoying.

Here’s how we think the ACC breaks down heading into Week 11 of the season:

1. Clemson Tigers (6-0, 9-0). Last week: 1
Last game: win 77-16 vs. Louisville. This week: at BC

Trevor Lawrence only had 8 completions on 12 attempts for 59 yards before being removed. Clemson had three rushers over 100 yards and one of them averaged 29 yards a carry. Louisville kicked a FG to cut it to 14-3 in the first quarter and then Clemson rattled off 49 unanswered points. Clemson is a machine, but damn Louisville.

2. Boston College Eagles (7-2, 4-1). Last week: 2
Last game: win 31-21 at VT. This week: vs. Clemson

Help us BC, you’re our only hope left.

3. N.C. State Wolfpack (6-2, 3-2). Last week: 3
Last game: win 47-28 vs. FSU. This week: vs. Wake

After dropping two in a row on the road to Clemson and Syracuse, the Pack got back on track thanks to playing a traaaaaaaasssssssssssssh FSU team. Four easily winnable games to end the season means State is likely destined for 10-2 with a possibility for a big boy NY6 bowl.

4. Syracuse Orange (7-2, 4-2). Last week: 5
Last week: win 41-24 at Wake. This week: vs. Louisville

So, Syracuse is going to be 8-2 after this week. They’re already ranked No. 13 but could we be looking at a Top 10 ranked Syracuse Orange team? WHAT IS THIS WORLD?!?!

5. Pittsburgh Panthers (5-4, 4-1). Last week: 9
Last game: win 23-13 at UVa. This week: vs. VT

The Pittsburgh Panthers are not the favorite to win the ACC Coastal and they control their own destiny to do so. How they lost to North Carolina is anyone’s guess. It is baffling.

6. Virginia Cavaliers (6-3, 4-2). Last week: 4
Last game: loss 23-13 vs. Pitt. This week: vs. Liberty

Last Friday was not great. Assuming the Cavaliers beat the Flames this weekend, this season can’t be characterized as anything but a success, even if they lose the last two to GT and VT. Disappointing ending =/= disappointing season.

7. Duke Blue Devils (6-3, 2-3). Last week: 10
Last game: win 20-12 at Miami. This week: vs. UNC

Duke has to play at Clemson next weekend, so that is a loss, but other games against Wake and UNC mean the Blue Devils are probably going 8-4 this season. David Cutcliffe, man.

8. Virginia Tech Hokies (4-4, 3-2). Last week: 7
Last game: loss 31-21 vs. BC. This week: at Pitt

The Hokies still control their own ACC Coastal destinies, but having lost two in a row and four of their last six, unless a different team shows up, it a’int happening. They’ll likely be slight favorites at home against Miami and UVa, but they also might need to add another game after the ECU game was canceled to make a bowl this season.

9. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (5-4, 3-3). Last week: 8
Last game: win 38-28 at UNC. This week: vs. Miami

At one point I thought there was no way the Yellow Jackets were going to make a bowl this season. Now, they might get to be pulverized by Clemson against in the ACC Championship Game.

10. Miami-Florida Hurricanes (5-4, 2-3). Last week: 6
Last game: loss 20-12 vs. Duke. This week: at GT

Miami travels two Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech the next two weeks before hosting Pitt to end the season. There are no layups and Miami is not bowl eligible yet. There is no way Miami misses a bowl and fires Richt after three seasons, right? RIGHT?

11. Florida State Seminoles (4-5, 2-5). Last week: 11
Last week: loss 47-28 at NC State. This week: at Notre Dame

At Notre Dame, home vs. Boston College, and home vs. Florida. Yea, 4-8 is most definitely happening.

12. Wake Forest Demon Deacons (4-5, 1-4). Last week: 12
Last game: loss 41-24 vs. Syracuse. This week: at NC State

Dave Clawson has done more than enough the last few seasons to weather this storm, but ending the season with four straight losses is not a great look. Utah State, Rice, UNC (weird huh?), and Elon make up their 2019 out of conference schedule, so they should be able to go at least 3-1 in that, but they’ll get VT and Duke from the Coastal to make a difficult ACC slate.

13. North Carolina Tar Heels (1-7, 1-5). Last week: 13
Last game: loss 38-28 vs. GT. This week: at Duke

Thank God that UCF game got canceled, otherwise they’d be 1-8. 1-7 vs. 1-8 isn’t that big of a different but I have to think 2-9 sounds better than double digit losses for a season.

14. Louisville Cardinals (2-7, 0-6). Last week: 14
Last game: loss 77-16 at Louisville. This week: at Syracuse

We got rid of the trash dumpster fire in Maryland and got this trash dumpster fire out of the state of Kentucky.
