With the new national signing day just three days away, the Virginia Cavaliers look to be closing the cycle with momentum, as Louisiana wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks announced his commitment to the Hoos.

Wicks was lightly recruited before coming on strong in his senior season. Listed at 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds by 247 Sports, Wicks has reportedly added some size more recently (about an inch of height and 10 pounds of weight). UVA is his only Power Five offer, with the other FBS offer in-hand being the New Mexico Lobos.
This may be a great steal, led by Ricky Brumfield’s connections in Louisiana (and strong work by regional scout Jordan Arcement). Wicks plays big: he fights strong for balls in the air and uses his hands away from his frame to secure receptions. He’s also a fluid, strong runner with some deceptive change of direction. And one thing that should make coaches sit up and take notice—a wide receiver that includes his run blocking in his highlights.
