Did a Virginia Football Recruit Give a Peek of the Cavaliers’ New Uniforms?

With all the hubbub around the basketball game this weekend against Virginia Tech, the UVa football team is trying to influence some key recruits in the 2019 and 2020 recruiting classes.

Well, one of them, Ben Smiley, a DL out of Indian River High School, might have inadvertently broken some Virginia football uniform news.

Last season Coach Bronco Mendenhall said the team would be getting a redesign for this upcoming 2018 season.

In Smiley’s first photo, where he poses with the Virginia flag, the two mannequins behind him are wearing uniforms the football team did not wear this past season.

You’ll notice both jerseys have different shoulder stripes. The white helmet on the blue jersey also appears to have a different stripe pattern.

Unclear if these will be the final product, but interesting to maybe get a glimpse of how UVa football will look in the future.
