Virginia’s DeAndre Hunter named ACC Co-Rookie of the Week

Hunter scored 22 points on the road at Miami this week.

The ACC announced Monday afternoon that Virginia redshirt first year DeAndre Hunter is one of this week’s ACC Rookies of the Week, sharing the honor with Syracuse’s Oshae Brissett.

Hunter is coming off a 22 point performance in Virginia’s 59-50 win at Miami, one point shy of the career-high he set against Monmouth. He went 8-for-16 from the field against the Hurricanes, and helped the Hoos break the game open in the second half.

In conference play, Hunter has been crucial for the Cavaliers. He’s shooting 52.7% from the field in ACC play, has scored in double digits in eight of Virginia’s 14 games, and is averaging 11 points per game.
