The Virginia Cavaliers’ class of 2019 is officially open, with two standouts from the “speed state” of Florida announcing their commitments to UVA on Tuesday.
Major Williams and Seneca Milledge, both out of Dunbar High School in Fort Myers, simultaneously tweeted their pledges to Bronco Mendenhall and the Cavalier coaching staff.

Both are three-star prospects according to the 247 Sports Composite, with Milledge rated .8628 and Williams at .8556. Milledge had been an NC State commit until re-opening his recruitment in July 2017; his offer list also includes Maryland, North Carolina, West Virginia, Vanderbilt, and Florida Atlantic. Williams holds an NC State offer as well, along with FIU and USF.
Milledge is faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaast. He is listed at only 5-foot-6, but UVA knows what to do with diminutive speedsters on offense. (Milledge has tweeted about “playing running back at the next level,” which implies he’ll fill a speed back/slot receiver role akin to Olamide Zaccheaus.) Milledge has more than a handful of invites to some of the better stops on the camp circuit, including to the Under Armour All-America camp. In addition to his football prowess, Milledge is a track stud: he routinely runs the 60-meters in under 7 seconds and has run the 100-meters in 10.4. Enjoy the thought of him returning punts and kickoffs for the Hoos.
Williams will come to Charlottesville as a defensive back. At 6’1, 170, he doesn’t have quite the plus-plus size that a player like Jaylon Baker brought to the 2018 class but is still a good sized corner. He has the quickness to potentially play field corner, responsible for more in-breaking routes than jump balls. You can see some very good tight-man play in his film, and good ball skills to snag picks as well.
These are big big gets for this early in the cycle. By way of comparison, Milledge’s 247 Composite rating would have placed him fourth among UVA’s 2018 signees, and Williams’ would be fifth. The UVA coaches beat out some big schools and some hometown mid-majors to land two players that will bring instant speed and play-making upgrades to the program. That’s one helluva start.
Welcome to the UVA family, Major and Seneca!
