For the fifth straight week, the Virginia Cavaliers are the nation’s top-ranked team in the AP Poll. In case you missed it (somehow) the Hoos won the 2018 ACC tournament, pushing them to a 31-2 overall record - the most wins in Virginia basketball history - and became the first team to win 20 ACC games in a season.

Now, the Hoos are the top seed in the NCAA tournament and will face UMBC on Friday night at 9:20pm on TNT in Charlotte.

Villanova, Xavier, Kansas, and Michigan State round out the top five. In the NCAA tournament, Villanova is the No. 1 seed in the East, Kansas the No. 1 in the Midwest, and Xavier the No. 1 in the West. Michigan State was selected as the No. 3 seed in the Midwest (behind Duke as the No. 2 seed).

Virginia’s 2-seed Cincinnati checks in at No. 6 in the AP Poll, followed by Michigan, Gonzaga, Duke, and North Carolina in the top ten.

Other potential matchups for Virginia in the NCAA tournament include No. 12 Arizona (4-seed), No. 13 Tennessee (3-seed), No. 18 Kentucky (5-seed), and No. 22 Miami (6-seed).

The ACC has five teams in this week’s poll, which leads all conferences.
