WATCH: Virginia women’s basketball reacts to NCAA tournament berth

The Hoos earned a spot in the tourney for the first time since 2010.

For the first time since 2010, the Virginia women’s basketball team is headed back to the big dance! Coach Boyle and the Hoos gathered as a team to watch tonight’s bracket reveal, where they were named a 10-seed that will face 7-seed California on Friday in Columbia, SC.

To say they were excited is a little bit of an understatement.

The Cavaliers finished the season 18-13 overall and tied for sixth in the ACC with a 10-6 record. This is Coach Boyle’s first NCAA tournament as head coach of the Hoos.

Virginia tips off Friday at 5pm, and will play the winner of the 2-15 matchup between South Carolina and North Carolina A&T.
