Virginia Cavaliers become unanimous No. 1 in this week’s AP Poll

Hoos finish the regular season 28-2 overall and a record-setting 17-1 in the ACC.

For the fourth straight week, the Virginia Cavaliers are the top college basketball team in the country, taking the No. 1 spot in the AP Poll. This week, the Hoos earned all 65 votes, becoming just the second team this season to unanimously be named to No. 1, joining Duke in weeks four and five.

The Hoos picked up two wins this week to improved to 28-2 overall and became the first ACC team to win 17 conference games in a season, finishing at 17-1 overall. Virginia overcame a four point deficit with 0.9 seconds left at Louisville to go a perfect 9-0 on the road in conference play.

Virginia then held court against a newly healthy Bonzie Colson and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Senior Day, sending Devon Hall, Isaiah Wilkins, and Nigel Johnson out of JPJ with a win, 62-57.

Five ACC teams were in the rankings this week with Duke (No. 5), North Carolina (No. 12), Clemson (No. 19), and Miami (No. 24) all joining the Hoos.

Virginia hits the road this week for the ACC tournament in Brooklyn. The Hoos are the top seed and will play at noon on Thursday.
