The 2018 NFL Draft kicks off this evening, and Virginia’s Kurt Benkert is one of the many hoping to hear their name called. In honor of Benkert’s push to the pros, the official Pop Warner Twitter account tweeted the most adorable video of a young Benkert slinging the pigskin and hitting his teammate in stride for a game-winning touchdown.
Check it out:

First of all, oh my gosh. Second of all, loving the Firecats mascot. According to some quick internet research, the Ft. Myers Firecats are a youth team for 10 and 11 year old players, meaning Benkert had quite the cannon on him, even at a young age. The pass was executed to perfection and the sideline celebration is top-notch. What a perfect throwback Thursday post.
Here’s to Benkert hopefully continuing to toss “dimes” for a long time in the NFL.
