Two more international commitments for Virginia football’s suddenly hot 2019 class

Offensive lineman and quarterback/athlete become commits 14 and 15 for Hoos

NCAA Football: Virginia at Miami Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

The training table for the Virginia Cavaliers will need to have plenty of schnitzel and döner kebab once the 2019 season rolls around.

UVA landed its second and third international commitments in the 2019 class on Friday afternoon, with offensive lineman Kariem Al Soufi and quarterback Luke Wentz announcing their pledges to Virginia.

Both were part of the PPI camp group that came to Charlottesville for UVA’s first camps of the summer. That group also produced Emil Bo Andersen’s commitment on the defensive side of the ball. The two Germans will find some company in the Virginia locker room in Gerrik Vollmer, a redshirt freshman offensive lineman who played a prep year in Connecticut after growing up in Germany.

Al Soufi is 6-foot-4 and 340 pounds. He had offers from Florida and Towson in addition to the one from Virginia. Wentz is 6-foot-3 and weighs in at 205 pounds. He plays quarterback for the Paderborn Dolphins but could play multiple positions for UVA. Temple had also offered Wentz.
