What’s more exciting than Hoos in the news? You tell us. Here’s the latest:

Ryan Zimmerman drives in six runs in Nationals’ 9-4 rout of Cubs (Washington Post)
UVA baseball alum Ryan Zimmerman of the Washington Nationals had a standout weekend against the Cubs. Although the Nats lost the series after a Sunday night walk-off grand slam by Chicago’s David Bote, Zimm’s performance was still one for the books.

“After weeks of warming, his bat caught fire Saturday, exploding for two homers and six RBI as the Nationals beat up the Chicago Cubs, 9-4,” The Post wrote of Washington’s veteran infielder.

The six-run Saturday was enough to earn Zimmerman National League Player of the Week honors.

Virginia basketball freshman Kody Stattmann helped the Australian National Team beat New Zealand in the FIBA U18 Asia Championship. He finished with 17 points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals in the win. The 2018 recruit started all six games for Australia.

Virginia Football had its first scrimmage of the fall on Saturday, and VirginiaSports posted some footage from the scrimmage on social, showcasing the 2018 Cavaliers playing a little blue on white with a nice “Beat Tech” chant thrown in the end.

Tools of a Winner: Lauren Coughlin (Symetra Tour)

Virginia golf alum Lauren Coughlin won the fourth annual PHC Classic by one stroke this weekend. This was Coughlin’s first career win on the Symetra Tour, which is the qualifying circuit for the LPGA tour. Coughlin finished the weekend 16-under par.
