Summer work continues to roll on, both at UVA and elsewhere. Let’s check in on what everyone’s doing:
Numbered jerseys appear at Fall Camp Practice No. 9 (Virginia Sports)
One tradition Bronco Mendenhall instituted upon arriving on grounds was to withhold players from jersey numbers until they had earned the right to wear them. This year, the first group selected, 41 players in total, came earlier than ever before. The first three picks, in order, went to RB Jordan Ellis (for the third straight summer), DB Juan Thornhill, and RB PK Kier.
Kurt Benkert continues to build his case to make the Falcons roster (The Falcoholic)
Our friends at the Falcoholic, SB Nation’s blog for Atlanta Falcons fans, wrote a piece about UVA alum Kurt Benkert’s potential. While the hype surrounding the quarterback is tempered, it is clear that his work ethic has been paying dividends in the locker room and on the field. We’re rooting for you, Kurt!
UVA offered Mallard Creek’s offensive tackle Parker Moorer yesterday. Moorer recently decommitted from Maryland following the news regarding the toxic environment surrounding the program. The Hoos have some catching up to do, though, as West Virginia, East Carolina, Syracuse, and UCF have already been on his radar for a while.

London Perrantes’ Camp a success in its first year (London Perrantes’ Instagram)
London Perrantes recently headed to France to start preparing for his first season with Limoges CSP. Yesterday, he took the time to post an Instagram with the kids at the camp he hosted earlier this summer at Harvard-Westlake School. In the post, he even hinted at next year’s site being in Charlottesville. Maybe Tony Bennett can help him figure something out.
