With Casey Morsell already committed for the class of 2019, the Virginia Cavaliers locked in a top-100 guard to anchor backcourts of the future. The Hoos landed a frontcourt star on Monday night in Kadin Shedrick from Holly Springs, NC.

Shedrick is a 6-foot-10 forward. 247 Sports has him rated as a four-star and the number 90 overall prospect in his class. He’s on almost every list of the guys rising fastest up recruiting boards; the consensus among many recruiting sites is that Shedrick should end up somewhere in the top 50 or 60 prospects in the 2019 class by the time all is said and done.
Shedrick picked UVA over offers from more than 30 other programs. Louisville and Wake Forest had both offered from the ACC, while Florida, Xavier, Indiana, and Florida were among the other high-major programs in on Shedrick.
The length and athleticism on Shedrick are enough to turn heads right off the bat. Add in the fact that he’s one of the youngest players in his class and you can figure why coaches see such high upside.
UVA now has 247’s 8th ranked class of 2019, second in the ACC behind UNC. Tony Bennett still has at least one and likely two scholarships in his pocket for that year. Look for the Hoos to add a long wing player to complement Morsell and Shedrick.
