What Tony Bennett seeks in recruits (UVA Today)
Virginia Men’s Basketball Head Coach Tony Bennett has always had a knack for turning underrated high school players into stars in Charlottesville. In an article recently posted on UVA Today, Bennett explained some of the traits he looks for in assessing prospects, which include competitiveness, composure, and confidence, among others.
Hoos showing some promise in an otherwise tough start for the ACC (SB Nation)
Richard Johnson of SB Nation wrote about the surprising demise of the ACC in the early weeks of the college football season. On UVA, however, he offered his thoughts on the team's head coach, "Bronco Mendenhall can buff and polish a lump of coal and make it a competitive team." I guess that's a compliment?
UVA grows wider in Week 4’s College Football Empires Map (SB Nation)
At the start of the season, each FBS team had control of its immediate area in SB Nation’s map, and, since then, each team's amount of land has either progressed or regressed based on their performance. Virginia did lose the greater Charlottesville area following a tough loss to Indiana in week two, but found consolation on Saturday through their defeat of Louisville, establishing more territory in lower Kentucky. Former Wahoo Brandon Guyer blasted a home run in the seventh inning in Monday’s game against the White Sox. The hit turned out to be the winning run for the Indians, who clinched the AL Central title two weeks ago.
The men’s basketball coaching staff and recent commit Kadin Shedrick, who was in town with his family for his official visit over the weekend, went over to watch Kadin’s sister, Kari, during her softball clinic. Awesome stuff as always from the men’s basketball guys!
