With the NFL season starting this weekend and the rosters trimmed to 53 players, now is the perfect time to see which former Virginia Cavaliers football stars are playing on Sundays.

Rodney McLeod - Philadelphia Eagles - Safety - McLeod is the starting safety for the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles. In his second season with the Eagles, he had three interceptions on the year and even recorded six tackles in the Super Bowl.

Morgan Moses - Washington Redskins - Offensive Tackle - The former star Cavalier offensive lineman is now firmly entrenched as the starting right tackle for Washington. He was even named the Redskins Offensive Player of the Year for 2017.

Brent Urban - Baltimore Ravens - Defensive End - Urban suffered a leg injury last season which was his contract year, but the Ravens resigned him in the offseason to a one year deal anyways. The former Hoo is slated to be a starting defensive end for Baltimore and will have a lot to prove this season.

Rotation Players:

Anthony Harris - Minnesota Vikings - Safety - “Ant” Harris was resigned by the VIkings in the offseason and is used as a rotation defensive back. He has played in every game in the past two seasons for Minnesota and made 11 tackles in their two playoff games last year.

Chris Long - Philadelphia Eagles - Defensive End - The former UVA legend helped the Eagles win the Super Bowl last season after helping the Patriots win the year before. He also received national attention when he donated his entire 2017 salary to charity. Not a bad year. Long is in the second year of his two year deal with Philadelphia and will rotate in on the defensive line.

Maurice Canady - Baltimore Ravens - Cornerback - The former Hoos defensive back will be in his third season with the Ravens. He appeared in eight games last year including one start, but is expected to be a backup cornerback to start the season.

Eli Harold - Detroit Lions - Linebacker - Harold spent three seasons in San Francisco, including starting 10 games last season. On August 23rd, he was traded to the Lions where he is expected to be a backup.

Darius Jennings - Tennessee Titans - Wide Receiver - The former star UVA wide receiver has bounced around the NFL a lot, even with his current Tennessee team. He was on again off again with the Titans all last season, but made the 53 man roster to begin this season.

Micah Kiser - Los Angeles Rams - Linebacker - The former All-American linebacker for the Hoos was drafted in the fifth round by the Rams. He is currently a backup but shined in the preseason and has a bright future in LA.

LaRoy Reynolds - Philadelphia Eagles - Linebacker - Reynolds signed with the defending champion Eagles in the offseason after spending time with the Falcons, Bears, and Jaguars the previous seven seasons. The former star UVA linebacker is currently a backup, but is expected to see action on special teams.

Matt Schaub - Atlanta Falcons - Quarterback - The former UVA star QB will be backing up Matt Ryan in Atlanta again this season. Schaub is entering his 15th season but has thrown a combined three passes in his last two years.

Andrew Brown (Bengals), Kurt Benkert (Falcons), and Taquon Mizzell (Bears) did not make their teams final rosters, but were signed to the practice squad and could be called up to play during the season. These following players were on preseason squads but were cut and are currently not on practice squads or signed elsewhere yet: Quin Blanding, Luke Bowanko, Cam Johnson, Andre Levrone, John Montelus, Austin Pasztor, Eric Smith, Oday Aboushi. Hopefully these former Hoos will be picked up by NFL teams as the season begins.
