Men’s basketball, which remained No. 4 in this week’s AP Poll, defeated the Marshall Thundering Herd yesterday afternoon 100-64 to wrap up non-conference play. On a night in which Head Coach Tony Bennett earned his 300th win, Kyle Guy poured in a career high 30 points and student manager-turned-walk-on-turned-star Grant Kersey nailed yet another three pointer.
After participating on the practice squad for the majority of the season, the Atlanta Falcons re-signed former Virginia Cavaliers quarterback Kurt Benkert to a reserve/futures contract, giving them his claiming rights for next year.
Virginia outplayed South Carolina in Saturday’s Belk Bowl in just about every facet of the game. As a result, UVA had the top five highest-graded players in the contest, led by senior safety Juan Thornhill, according to Pro Football Focus.

UVA commit Jowon Briggs was named a top performer on the first day of practice at the Under Armour All-America Game. Briggs, a senior at Walnut Hills in Cincinnati, Ohio, dominated the competition at both tackle and end.
