The Virginia Men’s Basketball practice ended with a fun surprise for one player as head coach Tony Bennett awarded a scholarship to second year forward Austin Katstra. Bennett brought Katstra out as part of a free throw shooting drill, and he nailed the shot.
“That was a big free throw,” Bennett said. “You just got a scholarship.” The rest of the squad cheered and mobbed their teammate. Take a look: :

Katstra has seen action in eight of Virginia’s 15 games, for a total of 22 minutes. In that time he’s scored seven points (two of which came in an emphatic dunk), pulled in four rebounds, and dished three assists. A Charlottesville native, Austin attended the local Albemarle High School and comes from a long line of Virginia basketball players as his father and grandfather both played at UVA.
Congrats, Austin!
