Men’s basketball dispatched Notre Dame on the road on Saturday afternoon, 82-55. Sophomore guard De’Andre Hunter led all scorers with 19 points, while junior forward Mamadi Diakite stood tall on the defensive end, recording a career-high four blocks.
Virginia stayed put on the one-seed line in ESPN’s Joe Lunardi’s latest bracketology. As it stands, Lunardi projects UVa to fall to the Midwest section, where they would be set for a first round matchup against Cal State Bakersfield in Columbia, South Carolina.
After watching his team get outclassed by an experienced Virginia squad on Saturday, Notre Dame men’s basketball head coach Mike Brey had a few words to say about the opposition, “I can’t say enough how impressed I am with them [...] They could win the national championship.”
