What to Watch: College Football Week Seven

After a weekend full of byes, we get ten ACC teams going head-to-head in Week Seven. With Virginia’s crucial divisional matchup looming just hours away, let’s dive into which ones are worth paying attention to.

#20 Virginia Cavaliers at Miami Hurricanes

Last year’s win over then-No. 16 Miami was one of the biggest, if not the biggest, win of Bronco Mendenhall’s head coaching career since coming to Charlottesville. As opposed to that game, though, in which UVA entered as seven-point underdogs at home, many pundits believe Virginia has a very good chance at coming away from Miami Gardens with the victory.

Florida State Seminoles at #2 Clemson Tigers

Since 2015, Clemson has owned this matchup that used to be the ACC’s premier game annually. And while the ‘Noles have seemed to turned the corner in Willie Taggart’s second year - picking up consecutive conference wins over Louisville and NC State - I don’t expect that dynamic to change in 2019.

Louisville Cardinals at #19 Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Will Wake enter Week Nine’s game in Death Valley against Clemson at 9-0? It seems plausible at this point, given what lies ahead: home bouts with Florida State and NC State, and then a trip to Blacksburg. First, though, the Demon Deacons, who survived a struggling Boston College team two weeks ago, will need to get by the Cardinals.
