Things weren’t going well for the No. 20 Virginia Cavaliers on the road against Miami as the Hurricanes held a 7-0 lead late in the first half. Things got worse for the Hoos, however, as All-American cornerback Bryce Hall was carted off the field after an apparent leg injury.
The Virginia defense came up with another huge stop, leading to a Miami punt with 2:46 to play. Virginia’s Billy Kemp rattled off a 19-yard return to the Cavalier side of midfield, but immediately ran back down the field after the play.
The reason was evident. Hall, a senior, was sitting on the field as training staff ran to him. They immediately seemed to cover an injury with towels before the broadcast went to commercial. When they returned, Hall was carted off the field with an air brace around his lower left leg.
