Hoos back in the top 10.

NCAA Basketball: James Madison at Virginia Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

It took just one week of action, but the Virginia Cavaliers are back in the top 10 of the AP Poll. Virginia notched wins at Syracuse and against James Madison, holding both teams to just 34 points in defeat. The Hoos moved up to No. 9 as a result, giving the ACC four teams in the top 10.

Kentucky took over the top spot after defeating Michigan State in the Champions Classic, and Duke bumped up two spots to No. 2 with their win over Kansas. The Spartans dropped to No. 3, and Louisville climbed to No. 4. Kansas fell to No. 5, with North Carolina jumping to No. 6.

Maryland and Gonzaga stayed steady at No. 7 and 8, respectively, and Villanova rounds out the top 10 at No. 10.

The ACC, SEC, and Pac-12 (!!) all tied with four teams each this week, and the Big Ten, Big East, and Big 12 all put three teams in the rankings.

Purdue, which Virginia will face on the road in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, fell out of the rankings after dropping a home game to Texas.
