Expectations had been for a night game as the contest will effectively decide the winner of the Coastal Division. The Cavaliers are currently 7-3 overall and 5-2 in the ACC, and the Hokies have used a hot stretch to improve to 7-3 and 4-2 in conference play. Virginia Tech will face Pitt this weekend in a game with big Coastal implications as the Panthers can still win the division. If Virginia beats Virginia Tech, however, they will win the Coastal for the first time in school history and ensure that the Coastal has had seven different winners in its seven years of existence.
Tech has won five of their last six contests, with the lone loss coming by a point at Notre Dame.
Virginia is coming off a bye and a win over Georgia Tech and will face Liberty this weekend in Charlottesville.
The game will be televised on ABC, giving the Hoos a chance to slay all their demons in front of a national audience.
