The Virginia Cavaliers are 3-0 and have moved up two spots in the AP Poll to No. 7. Virginia has the best defense in the county by just about every measure as the Hoos are giving up an average of 36.7 points per game and allowing opponents to shoot just 41-for-164 (25%) from the field. That’s right. The Hoos have only allowed 41 field goals through three games, all the while forcing 42 total turnovers. Their defense is No. 1 on KenPom, and the Virginia boasts the best block rate (22.9%) in the country.

The Hoos are one of four ACC teams, all of which are in the top seven nationally. Duke leads the way this week at No. 1 thanks to Kentucky’s loss to Evansville earlier in the week. Louisville comes in second this week, with the North Carolina Tar Heels jumping one spot to No. 5.

The SEC and Pac-12 also each have four teams in the Top 25, but no conference has as much of a stranglehold as the ACC.
