Happy Holidays from Streaking the Lawn

In the spirit of the holidays, we’ve donated our profits to Thursday’s Heroes.

Happy Holidays

from the entire Streaking the Lawn staff!

Wow, we had a lot of fun covering the Virginia Cavaliers this year. As a staff, we wrote approximately one billion articles covering everything from heartbreaking losses to national championships, and all the fun antics in between. But this one is our favorite article of the year. Because this is the one where we make our charitable gift.

Every year, we take the profits we’ve earned from advertising dollars and affiliate revenue and we donate it to a charity of interest to the local UVA and Charlottesville communities.

In the spirit of the holidays, Streaking the Lawn will be making a donation to UVA Football’s Thursday’s Heroes program.

We love Thursday’s Heroes and everything it stands for. We love its local impact—most Thursday’s Heroes are chosen from the UVA Children’s Hospital, the Virginia Institute of Autism, and the Arc of the Piedmont, as well as from players. The first Hero of this season, for example, was Paxton Finkleston, little brother of long snapper Tucker Finkleston.

We love that the football players have gone all in on Thursday’s Heroes. The players are oftentimes the ones going out to buy the gifts for the Heroes. They fight amongst themselves to be one of the ones to hand out the gifts each week. They look internally for their own talents, whether it’s singing, acting, or dancing, to add a personal touch to each Hero’s experience.

And we love that it’s such a meaningful program for Bronco Mendenhall.

“Wow, what an impact Streaking the Lawn’s donation will do for our Thursday’s Heroes,” Mendenhall said upon learning about our donation. “The chance to impact lives is one of the great reasons to live. And that we’re able to partner and be able to facilitate the hopes and dreams and just goodwill for our Heroes, it’s really appreciated and impactful.”

Thank you all for reading our articles, buying our merch, and downloading our podcast all year long to make this possible. Hope you’re having a wonderful holiday season and that 2020 will bring even more national championships to this already storied program.
