It’s time to reveal No. 2 in our Top 30 countdown of the best Virginia Cavaliers sports moments from this unforgettable year!

Here’s what we’ve gotten to in the top ten thus far:

2. Virginia Basketball Takes Home The Championship

“If you learn to use it right, the adversity, it will buy you a ticket to a place you couldn’t have gone any other way.”

We’ve heard it time and again over the past months from Tony Bennett, who borrowed the quote from a TEDx talk on his wife’s recommendation. For the head coach, it’s a way of understanding how his team could go from creating history in the worst of ways (you know the story) to winning a national championship just twelve months later.

Of course, as is often the case, Bennett is right. How else can you explain Virginia’s improbable NCAA Tournament run?

Would they have collected themselves as well as they did during another opening round scare from Gardner-Webb? I’m not sure. How about Oregon? Purdue? Auburn?

By the time UVA had reached the national final against Texas Tech, it sure felt like this team was destined to take home the title.

And that’s exactly what happened:

Never take this one for granted, Wahoo fans. You can only win your first national championship once.

With that, we’re down to one last highlight moment from 2019! I think you may be able to guess what it will be.
