After one week at No. 4, the Virginia Cavaliers returned to the No. 3 position in the latest AP Poll. Duke took over the top spot after then-No. 1 Tennessee fell in a lopsided game at Kentucky over the weekend. Gonzaga moved up to No. 2, and Kentucky and Tennessee round out the top five at No. 4 and No. 5.
Virginia picked up a big road win at No. 8 North Carolina and held off the plucky Fighting Irish this week.
The Vols were at No. 1 for a program-record four weeks before dropping their second game of the season. Duke had a dramatic week, coming back from 23-points down in the second half to Louisville and beating NC State at Cameron Indoor.
The ACC has six teams ranked once again, including No. 20 Virginia Tech, who the Hoos play tonight at 7pm. No. 8 North Carolina, No. 16 Florida State, and No. 18 Louisville were also ranked this week. Virginia will travel to see the Cardinals on Saturday, marking the third back-to-back ranked matchup stretch for the Hoos in conference this season.
The Big Ten also had six teams in the rankings this week, including two teams Virginia beat in the non-conference this season in No. 22 Wisconsin and No. 24 Maryland.
