Ralph Sampson’s advice helps Virginia guard Braxton Key fine-tune his shot (Daily Progress)

Prior to the Virginia Tech game, junior transfer Braxton Key had been in a slump, shooting 1-for-13 from three-point land over his last eight games. That narrative shifted on Monday, however, when Key drained two clutch deep balls down the stretch against the Hokies. Perhaps, Josh Needelman of the Daily Progress puts forth, it was the weekly chat with his uncle, and UVa legend, Ralph Sampson that helped get him over the hump.

Virginia baseball claimed their first win of 2019 yesterday, shutting out VMI in the home opener, 9-0. Freshman right-hander Zach Messinger picked up the win in the Hoos’ victory.

Juan Thornhill is a do-it-all defensive back. Would he make sense as the Cowboys’ second-round pick? (The Athletic) $$$

Kevin Turner of The Athletic makes the argument for the Dallas Cowboys, who are in need of secondary help, to select former Virginia strong safety Juan Thornhill in April’s NFL Draft. Turner cites Thornhill’s “instincts” and “awareness” as two reasons why he will translate well to the pros.
