Duke’s loss is Virginia’s gain, NBA mock drafts and bracketology

Oh and Kyle Guy’s got party tricks.

Every weekday, we deliver UVA links outside of STL that you may have missed from the day before. It’s our look Around The Corner.

Happy Thursday, ‘Hoos. Hopefully Virginia’s huge victory over Georgia Tech got you through any mid-week malarkey, but if not, we’re here with a dose of daily basketball news to help out. We’ve got a summary of last night’s game and a look at Tony Bennett’s Coach of the Year nod on the site, but here’s what else is happening around the corner.

Hokies help ‘Hoos by beating Duke (CBS19)

Virginia Tech’s home win over a Zion Williamson-less Duke helped Virginia in the ACC (and probably AP) standings as the Blue Devils tallied their fourth loss and third in the conference.

NBA Mock Draft 3.0: Zion Williamson to go No. 1, R.J. Barrett to go No. 4 (NBCSports)

...and in today’s draft news about players not on Coach K’s roster, NBCSports has Virginia’s De’Andre Hunter going No. 5 behind Barrett and Ty Jerome at 23.

Bracketology: Duke remains No. 1 seed after losing, but Virginia takes over as the top overall seed (CBSSports)

Looks like Duke’s loss (I’ll say this one time only: shoutout to the Hokies) may alter more than just than how the conference shakes out. Think: March Madness seeds. Selection Sunday is just around the corner, y’all.

Virginia forwards Jay Huff, Mamadi Diakite hope to build on strong performances (The Daily Progress)

Two members of Tony Bennett’s frontcourt hope to build on increasing minutes and improving play as the regular season nears a close.

TOTD:

TIL that Kyle Guy can also sink shots from the bench. Party trick?
