Well that wasn’t the start we were looking for. 0-3 on day one, you just gotta get right back on the horse. Or you can just fade the picks. I won’t be offended.
Clemson Tigers vs. NC State
KP: NC State +1 O/U 141
Vegas: Clemson -1.5, O/U 140
I’m going back to the well on the Noon tipoff narrative. Add to that these teams will be playing their first game of the ACC Tournament and could come out a little flat. Clemson has a solid defense and should be able to play closer to their pace than NC State will play to theirs. The Tigers also won’t let the Wolfpack get too many offensive rebounds, forcing NC State to score in the half-court. Something I don’t see them having much success doing.
Pick: Under 140
Miami-Florida Hurricanes vs. Virginia Tech Hokies
KP: Virginia Tech -10, O/U 140
Vegas: Virginia Tech -7.5, O/U 137.5
Miami has zero depth. They just played a game that was tighter than it had to be. Now they turn around and play a very good Virginia Tech team. I like the Hokies to come out strong in this one while the Hurricanes will become a sieve at the end.
Pick: Virginia Tech -7.5
Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Louisville Cardinals
KP: Louisville -8, O/U 136
Vegas: Louisville -7.5, O/U 134
Last week I noted that Louisville had only scored 59 points once since their loss to Duke. Well that offense looked pretty good in Charlottesville on Saturday. On the Notre Dame side, their offense looked pretty solid yesterday in their 78-71 win yesterday over Georgia Tech with John Mooney putting up another double-double, three other players in double figures, and on top of that, none of them were named TJ Gibbs or Prentiss Hubb, their typical scorers! With a later start, look for even Notre Dame to be fresh (relatively) and the points to fly.
Pick: Over 134
Pittsburgh Panthers vs. Syracuse Orange
KP: Syracuse -5, O/U 131
Vegas: Syracuse -7, O/U 130
This line feels a bit trappy. Pitt isn’t good, as we have all determined. But isn’t this just the exact type of game that Syracuse would lose. They’re a trendy pick to win the ACC Tournament, maybe, just maybe Syracuse and Jim Boeheim, with his disdain for the Tournament being in North Carolina, will lay an egg and make Selection Sunday a little more stressful. Nah!
Pick: Syracuse -7
Season Total: ATS (34-26-2), O/U (26-18), Total (60-44-2)
