ACC Tournament: Wahoo Cheering Guide Day 2

NCAA Womens Basketball: NCAA Tournament-2nd Round-Notre Dame vs Depaul Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Well, day one of the ACC Tournament is over. It wasn’t particularly interesting, even though two lower seeded teams moved on. Day Two figures to be a bit more interesting, as better teams get in on the action.

There are some interesting story lines today. Clemson and NC State are both squarely on the bubble. Joe Lunardi has both of them in right now, but the loser of this game is very likely sweating Selection Sunday.

Virginia Basketball, of course, does not suit up until tomorrow at 12:30. However, we’re still interested in what happens. Especially since there is a game that directly impacts Virginia. If you’re wondering who to root for today, we’ve got you covered below.

Game 4: #8 NC State Wolfpack vs #9 Clemson Tigers
When: Noon, ESPN
Hoo To Root For: Clemson
Why: Virginia beat both of these teams on the road. However, the NC State win required overtime, while the Clemson win was never close. It seems obvious that Wahoo fans would rather see Clemson win. NC State’s Markell Johnson has the ability to take over a game, and could make things difficult for Virginia.

Game 5: #5 Virginia Tech Hokies vs #12 Miami-Florida Hurricanes Hurricanes
When: 2 PM, ESPN
Hoo To Root For: Miami
Why: Mostly because we hate the Hokies. This game is on the Virginia side of the bracket, and there’s just no reason to make it tougher than it is.

Game 6: #7 Louisville Cardinals vs #15 Notre Dame Fighting Irish
When: 7 PM, ESPN2
Hoo To Root For: Louisville
Why: Because there is every reason to keep the other side of the bracket difficult. Louisville can absolutely knock off UNC and/or Duke. And the Hoos own the Cardinals.

Game 7: #6 Syracuse Orange vs #14 Pittsburgh Panthers
When: 9 PM, ESPN2
Hoo To Root For: Syracuse
Why: Same reason as above. Syracuse won @Duke, so they could certainly beat Duke again. Keeping the other side of the bracket strong helps the Hoos.

As mentioned above, today should be interesting. There’s a couple of teams in action today that are threats to go far in the NCAAs. And there’s at least two teams playing for their NCAA Tournament lives.

Check back tomorrow for Day 3.
