The U.S. Basketball Writers’ Association announced its All America team on Monday, along with finalists for individual awards. The Virginia Cavaliers were well represented: sophomore forward De’Andre Hunter was named to the third-team All America squad, while coach Tony Bennett was selected as a finalist for the Henry Iba Award for national coach of the year.

Hunter was also named third-team All America by The Sporting News, along with junior guard Kyle Guy. The USBWA and The Sporting News represent two of the consensus All America selectors; the Associated Press and the National Association of Basketball Coaches are the other two.
Bennett won the Henry Iba Award in 2017-18. It was his third time winning the award, joining John Wooden as the only two coaches with three or more wins (Wooden won seven times).
