After a week with two convincing wins over two of the weaker teams in the ACC, the Virginia Cavaliers stayed put at No. 2 in the latest AP Poll. Gonzaga held on to the top spot, and got 42 first place votes (down two from last week). The Hoos got 21 first place votes, up from 15 in Week 17. One voter had Duke first.

North Carolina moved up to No. 3, with No. 4 Duke and No. 5 Tennessee rounding out the top five. Kentucky, Michigan, Texas Tech, Michigan State, and LSU complete the top-10.

The ACC and Big Ten tied this week with five teams ranked, followed by three for the SEC, AAC, and Big 12. Washington — the Pac-12’s lone ranked team — fell out of the rankings this week after an embarrassing loss to Cal, and Iowa dropped out after losing badly to Ohio State and Rutgers.

Florida State (No. 14) and Virginia Tech (No. 15) joined the Cavaliers, Tar Heels, and Blue Devils in the rankings. Louisville, Virginia’s Saturday opponent, was also receiving votes.
