Juan Thornhill and Tim Harris got to experience the joy of hearing their names called in the 2019 NFL Draft: Thornhill in the second round to the Kansas City Chiefs, and Harris in the sixth to the San Francisco 49ers.
But plenty of other Virginia Cavaliers have NFL dreams—and careers—that are just starting. We will update this post as players sign with teams after the draft.
Olamide Zaccheaus — Atlanta Falcons
Zaccheaus is going to be reunited with Kurt Benkert (and alongside fellow UVA alum Matt Schaub) according to Ian Rapoport. Zaccheaus is a great utility player that can create offense after the catch and will be a huge benefit to Atlanta.
Chris Peace — San Diego Chargers
The 6’2, 250 pound outside linebacker is heading west and will sign with the Chargers. Peace was a third team All-ACC selection, and led the ACC linebackers with 7.5 sacks last season.
Marcus Applefield — Baltimore Ravens
Applefield becomes the third undrafted free agent for Virginia, joining the fray in Baltimore. He’ll join Wahoo Maurice Canady with the Ravens.
Jordan Ellis — Cincinnati Bengals
Well, we know Kyle Guy will be happy! Ellis has signed a deal with the Bengals, meaning the star RB is joining Andrew Brown in Cincy.
