Dear Virginia:
Two weeks ago I told Kihei I was sorry. I was.
Last week, after the miracle against Purdue, I told you all I loved you all. I did.
On this late Monday night I come to you again.
The Virginia Cavaliers have done it.
Ty Jerome, Kyle Guy, De’Andre Hunter. They all did it.
In 2015, I watched the program I poured sweat and blood into win a national title. Tonight, I watched the program I poured my time, lifeblood, and effort into, win a national title.
It was amazing. I can’t imagine what it feels like to be those boys right now, but I know what it feels like to be Joe Harris, or Malcolm Brogdon, or Mike Scott.
It’s great. Yes, we all wanted to win the title when we wore Virginia across our chest, but to watch guys that come after us win it all is nearly just as special.
But just remember all the guys that have come before.
So tonight, tomorrow, and the weeks to come are for Ty, Kyle, Kihei, and Mamadi, but also for JR Reynolds, Sean Singletary, and Will Sherrill.
Hoos on top.
We’re all on top.
