We all know it was the best play of the year, so now it’s time to make it official. The dramatic Kihei Clark to Mamadi Diakite pass in the 2019 Elite Eight is up for an ESPY for the Best Play, and it’s up to you to help it win!

The Hoos were down 70-68 to the Purdue Boilermakers with a 5.9 seconds remaining and Ty Jerome at the line with one more free throw to shoot. His second attempt went off the front of the rim, and Diakite managed to get a hand on it for a tip into the backcourt. Clark chased it down, looked off both Kyle Guy and Jerome asking for the ball, and heaved a one-handed pass to Diakite for the bucket.
In case you somehow forgot how it all went down (or you just want to watch it several times), here’s the play:
Virginia would go on to beat Purdue in overtime and head to the Final Four for the first time under Tony Bennett (and the first time for Virginia since 1984). The Hoos eventually took home the title — the first in program history — and everyone rejoiced.
It’s a travesty that ESPN somehow made THE PLAY a 14-seed, but help the Hoos take home Best Play by voting. The award show will be televised July 10 on ESPN at 8pm. Virginia fans will also want to watch as the Cavaliers will be presented with the Capital One Cup during the show.
