The Virginia Basketball season gets underway Wednesday (September 25) as practice starts, but Head Coach Tony Bennett hasn’t slowed down since the Cavaliers won the National Championship back in April.
Bennett offered 2020 power forward Jaemyn Brakefield on Tuesday evening, according to Brakefield’s personal Twitter:

The 6’9, 215 pound forward is rated a 4-star recruit by Rivals and attends Huntington Prep in Huntington, West Virginia. He has offers from Auburn, Louisville, Ole Miss, Kansas, Michigan, UCLA, Michigan State, West Virginia, and more. Brakefield has an official visit scheduled with Louisville this coming weekend, and officials scheduled with Michigan and Ole Miss in October. He visited Auburn earlier this month.
Per ESPN, Brakefield is the No. 23 overall recruit and a 5-star. If Brakefield joined the Cavaliers, he would be part of a red-hot 2020 class that includes ESPN100 No. 31 Jabri Abdur-Rahim, No. 41 Reece Beekman, and Carson McCorkle. Marquette transfer Sam Hauser will also be eligible with the 2020 class.
Brakefield’s game features outside shooting, a tough game in the post, and, of course, defense. Check out some highlights:
He is the 15th highest recruit in the 2020 class that hasn’t yet committed, and the Hoos will have a bit of an uphill battle as Brakefield has already had two officials and has two more scheduled. Bennett got in to this one late, but Brakefield is a player to keep an eye on.
