Like the Hoos, we were better last week coming in with a 4-3 record. It was better, but still looking to improve.
Boston College Eagles @ Clemson Tigers
Clemson -24.5; Over/Under 58.5
Well this game just got a bit more interesting with Trevor Lawrence testing positive for Coronavirus. The Tigers appeared mortal last week “barely” knocking off the Orange and this wee they get a Boston College squad that’s no pushover. Clemson has Notre Dame next week so there are some looking to this game as a look ahead. Phil Jursovec and company can keep this one interesting, but Clemson is still Clemson and last time I checked they still have Travis Etienne. It could be a battle, but I figure the Tigers still win going away. But just in case, I’ll bet the over.
Pick: Over 58.5
Wake Forest Demon Deacons @ Syracuse Orange
Syracuse +14; Over/Under 59.5
Wake Forest has really shown me something. I liked them to cover against the Hokies, but didn’t think they would spring the upset. Syracuse hung with Clemson and may have found a little momentum. With the Orange at home, I think they can surprise.
Pick: Syracuse +14
Notre Dame Fighting Irish @ Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Georgia Tech +21; Over/Under 58.5
Just as I mentioned in the Clemson write-up, there’s kind of a big game in the ACC next weekend. Notre Dame isn’t the type of team that will be caught looking ahead, but that’s not to say they won’t take any chances this week against the Yellow Jackets. They’ll run the ball, control the tempo, control the clock, and rest when needed. They could still win by 21 given the strength of their defense, but I don’t think the score approaches this total.
Pick: Under 58.5
Virginia Tech Hokies @ Louisville Cardinals
Louisville +3.5; Over/Under 67.5
Talk about two Jekyl and Hyde teams. Can we just skip this one altogether? Has Louisville finally figured something out? Does VaTech just have a rotating segment of their roster going through COVID protocols? When these teams are clicking, they can score in bunches. I’m not particularly afraid of either defense and Louisville has been a completely different team at home. The points are enticing for the Cardinals, but I’m going to root for neither team to stop the other.
Pick: Over 67.5
Charlotte 49ers @ Duke Blue Devils
Duke -10; Over/Under 55
Duke needs a win a big way. I think at home against Charlotte, they can finally get one. Charlotte is a middle of the road Conference USA who won’t be able to take advantage of Duke’s inevitable mistakes. They may not pull away until late, but they will have enough to cover the number.
Pick: Duke -10
North Carolina Tar Heels @ Virginia Cavaliers
Virginia +7.5 Over/Under 61.5
I may be in the minority here, but I kind of like the three-headed monster Virginia’s rolling out at quarterback. It keeps the defense on their toes just enough even though they know exactly what’s coming when each guy is in there. However, the tactic lacks explosiveness. It’s kind of like the triple option. You know its coming. You can’t stop it. But you also know it will just bleed you to death. North Carolina will get their points. They’re explosive. But they won’t run away from the Hoos. The number scares me since I don’t see Virginia chucking it with reckless abandon should they get behind, but the Hoos can and will slow the game down limiting the Tar Heel’s ability to really run it up.
Pick: Under 61.5
